abandoned spaces

I seek out places with an intrinsic, fascinating story to tell—places that, for one reason or another, are no longer inhabited or used by humans. It is a poignant narrative when you stop to reflect on it.
This project demands extensive research, beginning with the history: I study why a specific geographic area was abandoned and seek out structures that still bear clear witness to human presence and its subsequent departure. A ruin completely reclaimed by nature, no longer recognizable, does not interest me; I look for the dialogue between the man-made and the passage of time.
To bring this vision to life, I set out with my black-and-white equipment, driving for miles through chosen regions to find my subjects. At times, this involves the risk of venturing into fragile spaces, where I carefully set up my tripod.
Often, it is a race against time. Buildings crumble and structures are razed to make way for the new. In these moments, my photographs remain the sole surviving evidence—a final testimony to what once was
